pOST PARTUM DOULA CARE
Gentle, practical support for the days and nights after birth.
The birth may be over, but your postpartum journey is only beginning.
Those early days and weeks with a new baby can be beautiful, overwhelming, exhausting and everything in between. You are learning your baby, recovering physically, navigating feeding, finding your rhythm and becoming a parent — all at the same time.
You shouldn’t have to do it all alone.
At Pulse of the Womb, postpartum doula care is about caring for the whole family. I offer gentle, non-judgemental and practical support so you can rest, recover and feel more confident as you find your way into this new chapter.
What does a postpartum doula do?
A postpartum doula provides practical and emotional support during the transition into parenthood.
I’m there to be alongside you — not to take over.
Sometimes you need someone to hold the baby while you shower. Sometimes you need help settling after a feed. Sometimes you need a nourishing meal, a listening ear or simply another calm person in the house while you find your feet.
And sometimes what you really need is sleep.
That’s where overnight support can make such a difference.
Daytime Postpartum Support
During the day, I can support you and your baby with things such as:
-
Feeding support and practical assistance with breastfeeding, bottle feeding or expressing
-
Bringing baby to you for feeds and helping with settling afterwards
-
Burping, nappy changes and soothing
-
Supporting baby’s sleep and settling routines
-
Holding and caring for baby while you shower, rest, eat or attend to your own needs
-
Preparing simple, nourishing meals and snacks
-
Light household tasks related to you and your baby, such as washing bottles or baby items
-
Supporting older siblings where appropriate
-
Helping you find your rhythm and confidence with your baby
-
Creating space for you to talk, process and be heard
-
Gentle emotional and practical support during the transition into parenthood
Daytime care: $40 per hour
Overnight Postpartum Support
Night-time can be one of the hardest parts of those early weeks.
Overnight doula care is designed to give you an opportunity to rest while knowing someone is there to support you and your baby.
Depending on your family’s needs, overnight support may include:
-
Responding to baby’s waking and feeding needs
-
Bringing baby to you for breastfeeding
-
Supporting bottle feeding where requested
-
Burping and settling baby after feeds
-
Nappy changes
-
Resettling baby between feeds
-
Holding and caring for baby while you sleep
-
Preparing bottles or feeding items for the next feed
-
Washing bottles
-
Creating a calm, quiet nighttime environment
-
Offering reassurance and practical support throughout the night
If you are breastfeeding, I can bring baby to you for feeds and then take care of the burping, settling and resettling so that you can return to rest.
The aim isn’t to separate you from your baby.
It’s to make sure you are cared for too.
Overnight care: $65 per hour
Overnight bookings are arranged according to your family’s needs and may have a minimum booking period.
Feeding Support
Every family and every baby is different.
I support parents without judgement around their feeding choices, whether you are breastfeeding, expressing, combination feeding or using formula.
I can provide practical support with feeding routines, positioning, burping, settling and preparing feeding supplies.
As a postpartum doula, I provide non-clinical support. If you or your baby need assessment or specialised feeding assistance, I can encourage you to connect with your midwife, GP, child health nurse or a qualified lactation professional.
Caring for the Parent
Postpartum care isn’t only about the baby.
You have just been through an enormous physical, emotional and identity transition.
You deserve nourishment.
You deserve rest.
You deserve support.
You deserve someone to ask how you are doing.
My approach is grounded in connection, gentle and responsive care, attachment, nervous-system awareness, nourishment and community.
I don’t come into your home with a list of things you should be doing.
I come to listen, support and help you find what works for your family.
My Philosophy
I believe that connection is the work.
There is no single right way to parent, feed, settle or recover after birth.
My role is to support you without judgement, respect your choices and help create an environment where you can slow down, recover and build confidence in yourself and your baby.
Postpartum care is not a luxury.
It is part of the village.
Who might benefit from postpartum doula care?
You might be:
-
A first-time parent wanting extra reassurance and practical support
-
Recovering from a challenging birth or caesarean
-
Experiencing exhaustion or struggling to get enough sleep
-
Navigating breastfeeding, expressing or combination feeding
-
Welcoming a second or subsequent baby while caring for older children
-
A single parent or parenting without your usual support network nearby
-
Wanting support overnight so your partner can rest for work
-
Someone who simply wants a little more care and support during this enormous transition
You don’t need to be struggling to ask for help.
You are allowed to be cared for simply because this is a big thing to do.
What postpartum care can look like
Every booking is different.
One family might need help with feeds and settling.
Another might need someone to hold their baby while they sleep.
Another might need a warm meal, help with their older children and someone to listen.
And sometimes the most valuable thing I can offer is simply being another calm, supportive person in the room.
We’ll talk about what you need and create support around your family.

A little more about me
My work with families is grounded in the belief that pregnancy, birth and early parenthood are significant life transitions that deserve care, respect and community.
I bring experience in birth work, family support and trauma-informed practice, alongside my understanding of attachment, gentle parenting, nervous-system regulation and the importance of connection.
I believe families thrive when they don’t have to do everything alone.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need somewhere safe to land.
If you’re expecting a baby or are already in those early postpartum days and would like some support, I’d love to hear from you.
What happens when you enquire?
You don’t need to have everything worked out before you reach out.
We’ll start with a simple conversation about where you’re at, when your baby is due or how old your baby is, and what kind of support you’re looking for.
From there, we’ll talk about what might be most helpful for you and your family — whether that’s daytime practical support, overnight care, feeding and settling support, or simply having another calm and caring person alongside you.
1. We have a chat
We’ll talk about your family, your hopes for postpartum and what you’re finding challenging or would like some help with.
2. We work out what you need
You might already know exactly what you’re looking for, or you might not.
That’s okay.
Together we’ll work out what kind of support would be most useful and whether I’m the right person to provide it.
3. We make a plan
We’ll arrange the days, times and type of support that suits your family.
I’ll also take the time to understand your preferences around feeding, settling, sleep, routines and how you’d like your baby cared for.
4. I come alongside you
When I arrive, there is no expectation that you need to have the house tidy, the baby settled or yourself together.
This is your postpartum space.
I’ll meet you where you’re at and support you from there.
Your village can start here.
Whether you need an extra pair of hands during the day or someone beside you through the night, postpartum support is about making sure you are cared for while you care for your baby.
